Maria Everest's birth may have been Oct 20, 1810, or Oct 20, 1811, or Apr 23, 1811 (the latter calculated from age at death date of January 20, 1887 [Jan 20 date, from Oregon Historical Records Index, Archives]).

Maria Everest first married Oct 24, 1834, in England, Samuel Parrett (1814-1857); second married Jul 15, 1860, in Oregon, Alphonso Rhoades (abt 1820-unk), divorced fall 1862; third married Mar 23, 1863, Marion Co., Oregon, James Quinn (abt 1818-unk). Maria's eldest son Thomas Henry Parrett changed the spelling to Parrott after he married and moved to Portland.

Samuel and Maria Parrett came from Hever Castle in Kent, England, where he was a shoemaker and she was a cook. Maria's brother Richard Everest urged a few Parretts and Everests to come to America to live near him. They did, and they settled on the mountain later known as Parrett Mountain. They had eleven children before Samuel's death, several of whom had died before Maria's death in 1887.

Maria's will: "Chahalem Mountain September the 22 1874. This is my last will and testament. I give to my sons William and Richard Parrett all my land at my death and the rest of my propety to be eqcly [equally] devided between the rest of my children that is still alive. Maria Quinn." [Found in Doris Huffman's research, located at the Oregon Historical Society in Portland.]

Her complete name was Maria (Everest) Parrett Rhoades Quinn. Her Parrott descendants used the later spelling on Maria's stone, in spite of the facts that her first married name was Parrett and her will was signed "Maria Quinn."
