Thomas Ashpole was my G-G-Granduncle. He came to America in 1850 with two brothers John (my g-g-grandfather) and Frederick. The brothers settled in Clinton, IA in 1857. Thomas move to Greenwood County, KS in 1857. Wife Mary A. Barker died 1863 so he left for Portland in 1865, and arrived six months later. Caught a fever on the trail and died in February 1866. Three children: John, Charles & Elizabeth (Parrett). Son, John Ashpole was a prominent citizen of Eagle Point, OR.
