After illness and suffering lasting nearly four months following an operation for appendicitis Glenn R. Baker died last Sunday morning in the Good Samaritan hospital, in Portland. Mr. Baker had suffered light attacks of appendicitis for more than three years, and had been advised by his physician to submit to an operation to relieve him of the trouble, but did not consent to it until about four months ago.

When the operation was performed it was found that the disease had made such progress and had become so malignant that his recovery was very doubtful. Every thing that surgical and medical skill would do availed nothing, and after a brave fight for life Glenn R. Baker passed away.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the home in Hood View community on the farm where, thirty-seven years ago, he was born. The funeral was attended by a throng of his neighbors and friends, for "Chick" as he was affectionately called by every one, was a general favorite, and all who know him were his friends.

Services at the home were conducted by Rev. C. A. Pickering, pastor of the Sherwood M. E. church. Services at the grave in Pleasant hill cemetery, were conducted by the American Legion of which Mr. Baker was a member there, on a beautiful afternoon in June, underneath a mound of roses, ? that is earthly of Glenn R. Baker was laid at rest. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter; his mother, three sisters and four brothers.
