Mrs. Henrietta Short.
Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Short, daughter of a pioneer Oregon family, who died December 29 at her home, 574 Spokane avenue, were held Friday, January 7, at the chapel of the Portland crematorium. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Zumwalt, who crossed the plains in 1850, and she was born on a donation land claim in Clackamas county in 1852. Following her marriage to Captain W. P. Short she had lived in Sellwood for the past 32 years with the exception of a brief residence in Canada. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Edith DeMerritt of Reedsport, Or., and Mrs. Ethel Lucus of Los Angeles; a son, R. L. Short of Milwaukie, Or.; two sisters, Mrs. S. J. Stanton and Mrs. M. C. Howard of Portland, and two brothers, John D. Zumwalt of Portland and A. R. Zumwalt of Pendleton.
