Submitted by John Klatt of Old Oregon:  William A. Fields was the oldest son of Nelson and Lucy, born in Missouri about 1845. He died in 1860 in Yamhill County of complications from a broken leg. There is also a William Samuel Fields who died in 1850. Yet another son of Ambrose, born in Missouri in 1824, he went with his father to the California gold fields in 1849 and died there.
