Amelia E. Peters, lifelong resident of the Wilsonville area, died in the Newberg Nursing Home on Dec. 6 at the age of 87.  Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 9, in Attrell's Sherwood Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. Otis Harden, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Sherwood, officiated.  Concluding service with vault interment was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Wilsonville.

Mrs. Peters was born the daughter of Louis Hasselbrink and the former Bertha Wilson on Jan. 20, 1881, at Wilsonville.  She attended local schools and was married Jan. 12, 1908, to Jake Peters who preceded her in death in February of 1935.  She was an active member of the Wilsonville Methodist Church for many years.  She was a past noble grand of the Wilsonville Sunshine Rebekah Lodge 206 and had been an active member for more than 50 years.  Mr. Peters was the postmaster of Wilsonville at the time of his death.  Mrs. Peters took the post office job in 1935 and remained there until 1947.  Her health had been failing the past two years.

Survivors include two brothers, Andrew Hasselbrink of Wilsonville and Elmer Hasselbrink, San Francisco, Calif; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Cora Cuthill of Lincoln City, niece Mrs. Carol Roos, Sherwood, three nephews, Pierce Mallory, Salt Lake City, Utah, Elmer Mallory, Arcadia, Calif., Lyle Hasselbrink, Lincoln City.
