Son of Marcus A Baker. Husband to Lillie. Father to Bessie,Lizzie,Harry,Ellis & Ruth. Shot by a friend, died in Brownsville, OR. Oregon City Newspaper, May 8, 1901: E. McClincy, while in a fit of insanity, shot and killed Howard Baker and then killed himself with the same gun, at Boone's Ferry, 12 miles south of here (Oregon City), this evening. Sheriff Cooke received a telephone message at 5 pm to go and arrested McClincy, who was believed to be insane. Half an hour afterward another message brought the news of the tragedy. McClincy had been away several days and on returning home threatened to shoot W.E. Crisell. Baker, a neighboring farmer went to McClincy's house to take care of him and was shot. Both men were middle aged and left families.
